"Three The Hard Way" The heart and soul of "Three The Hard Way" consists of three men of very different backgrounds. Scotty P. founded and led the Baltimore-based reggae band "Jah Works", toured the United States, Jamaica, Europe, Greenland, the South Pacific and the Far East, playing thousands of shows over a span of fifteen years. Paul "Rootsy" Downie is a roots reggae drummer, who started out as a percussionist, playing with just about every notable reggae artist in Philadelphia. He's also a key painter in the Philadelphia Mural Arts Project. Will is a self-taught bass player, singer and songwriter who for 20 years traveled around the world in the United States Army. His music is a reflection of his overseas travel and cultural experiences.
"Three The Hard Way" brings the musical influences and passions of these three unique individuals together to form a new sound that is being heard in Philadelphia. You will hear reggae, you will hear the blues, you will hear jazz and R&B, country and soul at a Three The Hard Way show. They put their spin on some classic cover songs alongside some amazing original compositions that you will surely be hearing again and again. Joining the core trio are 3 other talented musicians, L.A. Stevenson, Tony Love and Dean Sophocles. L.A. brings the haunting sax that sends tingles up your spine and Tony, another founding member of "Jah Works" carries an energy in his voice and guitar playing that speaks to you for days after the show. Dean is the newest member to the "Hard Way" crew and he brings a whole new sound to the mix. He comes with a solid rock and jazz vibe that will really spice up the groove.

Deb Callahan with The Dukes of Destiny 4/19/2008

Philadelphia's blues and soul drenched vocalist and songwriter, Deb Callahan grew up in the Boston area but has been a fixture on the mid-Atlantic music scene since the late 90's. During that time she and her band have gained a reputation for an exciting live show featuring a mixture of blues, soul and rock originals and classics. Her 2002 debut CD "If the Blues Had Wings" was featured as the hot debut in the October/November 2004 issue of Blues Revue Magazine. Blues Revue refered to her as the next Bonnie Raitt and raves "Philly's Deb Callahan has the pipes, the songs and the raw talent to graduate to the next level". Deb celebrated the release of her newest CD "The Blue Pearl" in November 2005. She teamed up with producer and song-writer Chris Arms, to craft a contemporary sounding CD with all the elements of timeless blues, soul and rock music. From the New Orleans blues/funk of the title track "Blue Pearl Moon" to the marriage of traditional and modern in the "Credit Card Blues". Deb encorporates thoughtful and often funny lyrics to tell a modern day blues tale. Doing social work in the heart of Philadelphia would be a good place to learn about life's hard knocks and this urban school ground taught singer/songwriter Deb Callahan well. Her rich, honest and soulful tunes resonate with listeners and run the gamut from soulful ballads to upbeat, dance oriented romps. Callahan's top-notch band consists of Philly greats Allen James on the guitar, Garry Lee on bass and Tom Walling on drums. The band begun touring nationally over the past few years playing extensively up and down the east coast and beyond, both at festivals and clubs including the Monterey Bay Blues Festival in California, the Springing the Blues Festival in Jacksonville, Florida, The Western Maryland Blues Festival in Hagerstown, MD, the Heritage Blues Festival in Wheeling, West Virginia, The Berks Blues and Jazz Festival in Reading, PA, The Lehigh Valley Blues Fest, Whitehall, PA, The Media Blues Stroll, Media, PA, The Red Bank Blues Festival in Red Bank, NJ, The Great Eastern Blues Fest in Masanutten,VA, The Briggs Farm Festival in the Poconos, PA, The Luray Blues Festval, Luray, VA, The Wilmington Riverfest in Wilmington, DE, The Chesapeake Blues Festival in Anapolis, MD, Cookin at McCooks in Niantic, CT. and many more. Callahan is currently working on her third CD with a release planned for late pring of 2008.

Gayle Jackson's book signing! 3/19/2008
Here is a small sample from my book:
Cooper was drunk and disoriented, and he knew it had nothing to do with the tea. Seeing and feeling her body was driving him near the brink of insanity. Lust had him firmly in its grip, and he didn’t care. Here was a beautiful, ripe woman, and she was teasing him and wanting him. He’d pray about it tomorrow. Tonight he was going to get satisfied.
The sudden impact of Coop’s surprisingly well-toned body forced a gasp from Aston. Unable to help herself, she stepped back slightly, looked down between their bodies, and gasped again. What she had been feeling had in no way prepared her for what she was seeing. Her eyes widened, and for a moment all she could do was stare in awe, and just a little fear. And as she stared, it seemed to grow a little bit more, making her back up another step. Who would have thought that the good Reverend Cooper St. James was hung like the proverbial horse?

Pamela Wiliams 2/16/2008

PAMELA WILLIAMS BIO
If you haven't heard of Pamela Williams, listen up --This multifaceted beauty is one to watch! Since her successful, ground-breaking debut album Saxtress, released in 1996, Pamela Williams has toured the country, stunning her audiences with electrifying performances. She has shared the stage with some of the best in the business. Prior to her first album, Pamela had been highly visible as a featured saxophonist with Patti Labelle and Teena Marie. She has made candid television appearances with artists such as Babyface , Sheila E, and was featured as a guest artist on the Arsenio Hall show. A stunning, multi-talented artist (saxophonist, writer, producer, singer, and painter), Williams captivates listeners with a harmonious soulful sound. Williams creates tracks of irresistible grooves, funky dance tracks, and sensual R&B flavored ballads. Pamela collaborates with other hit-making producers Kim Waters and David Mann to create urban-flavored smooth-jazz classics.
Hailing from Philadelphia, Williams is heavily influenced by the city's deep musical tradition. She reflects, "I was exposed to wonderful jazz and R&B growing up in Philadelphia. I was definitely influenced by fellow Philadelphian, Grover Washington Jr. Actually he was my first teacher. I used to play all of his records and copy what he was doing and that is really how I learned to play the saxophone. I loved his innovative blend of smooth jazz and R&B." Pamela Williams made her recording debut, Saxtress in 1996 which found a home on the Billboard charts for five consecutive months. The cd also earned her a nomination for the Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards. It also earned her the title of Best Female Contemporary Jazz Artist of 1996. Her follow up recordings include Eight Days of Ecstasy , Evolution, The Perfect Love, Sweet Saxations, and her latest release on Shanachie Records, Elixir. With each of Williams' cds, her singles have always been among the top 20 best on the charts.
Pamela has always exhibited many diverse musical elements in her repertoire from jazz to funk, R&B, house Latin, and pop. She is an incredible producer and arranger who produces other artists as well. There is another creative side to Pamela Williams. She is not only an accomplished musician, she is also a very accomplished visual artist, working in every medium from pencil to watercolor to oil. Her work ranges from realism to abstract art and she has been commissioned to do several paintings. One wonders which came first and when has she found the time to pursue such time -consuming and demanding careers. "I have been a visual artist much longer than I've been a musician. When I was a child my first love was art but I also had a passion for music as well . My first big break in the music industry came when I was in college earning a degree in art and I landed a gig with Patti LaBelle. I was at a crossroads, but I found a way to make them both work." In a field dominated by men, Pamela Williams' name appears alongside chart-topping players like Dave Koz, Kenny G, Najee, and Boney James. She has no doubt found her own voice and proven that she can hang with the best of the boys.
Pamela has recently released a new cd in June of 2007 entitled “The Look of Love”. This is Pamela’s seventh cd. This cd is a collection of covers of the magical music of Dionne Warwick and Burt Bacharach. Pamela has once again proven to be one of the most creative arrangers and producers around. She puts a new twist on 10 classical Burt Bacharach compositions to make them her own with a modern, funky, and sensual style. It has been said that artists often get better with time like a fine wine and Pamela Williams new release is musically intoxicating and tastefully done. There is more to come from the sexy “Saxtress” as she plans to venture out independently as a recording artist and producer who plans to establish her own record label.

DIRK QUINN BAND, CHROMA, BODEGA 11/30/2007
Friday, November 30th
Also included....Chroma, Dirk Quinn Band & Bodega

is a Philadelphia based jazz/funk guitarist who has utilized nearly a decade of constant performing to develop a unique and progressive style. His recently released self-titled debut features “thoughtful, original melodies flowing seamlessly over groove-heavy rhythms; intricate song structures giving way to strongly expressive, organic improvisations. Drawing inspiration from music of all types, his solo acoustic sound has been compared to the guitar “pyrotechnics of Keller Williams and Michael Hedges, while his full band compositions bear resemblances that range from the honest, urban funk of Soulive to the brave experimentation of Medeski, Martin and Wood.
Initially attracted to the guitar after being introduced to classic rock giants such as Led Zeppelin and The Who, Dirks thirst for the unique and bizarre soon had him jamming along to the more radical and daring Mahavishnu Orchestra and the humorous, bass-laden noise of Primus.
Playing as many as six nights a week with countless musical projects afforded him ample time to hone his chops. It wouldn't be long before the refining of his own artistic message coupled with a fresh, new outlook and a deeper musical/life philosophy opened up to him the world of jazz. Miles, Coltrane, Monk and Brubeck along with the more contemporary sounds of Bela Fleck, John Scofield, Ahmad Jamal and Jaco Pastorius began heavily influencing his musical direction. Liberated by the idea of free improvisation, he was finally able to realize and focus his musical vision.
The debut CD is aptly self-titled, showing a new-found confidence and excitement for this unique brand of groove-oriented jazz. Surrounding himself with a group of extremely talented and like-minded musicians, Dirk has been playing shows up and down the east coast of the United States while receiving an ever increasing amount of radio airplay. Locally, his music has been put in a regular rotation on Philadelphia's 90.1 WRTI and 97.5-2 WJJZ-HD2. Nationally, he gets spins on XM radio's Beyond Jazz channel as well as on “The Groove Boutique - a syndicated jazz/funk program that's broadcast on FM in 13 cities nationwide.
Since the inception of the band at the beginning of this year, and with no management or booking agent to speak of, the quintet has already landed some prestigious bookings - including a slot at Bethlehem's Musikfest, two performances on the main stage at World Cafe Live, as well as a show at the Brooklyn Academy of Music - and have been honored to share the stage with such legends as Chico Huff (Pat Martino, John Swana), Jef Lee Johnson (George Clinton, David Sanborn), and Sam Kininger (Soulive). The bands high energy and musical interplay routinely attract listeners that are admittedly more accustomed to lyric-based music. With great melodic sensibilities, rhythmic experimentation and an accessible modern edge, the Dirk Quinn Band is jazz/funk improvisation at its most exciting!
